Welcome to the Christian Leaders
Benefit Alliance (CLBA) benefits program.
CLBA (dba “Christian Leaders Benefits Alliance”) is an organization which serves churches and associated non-profit organizations, K-12 Christian schools, non-profit Christian ministry organizations, and Christian colleges and universities – all affiliated with Churches of Christ. Through CLBA efforts, these organizations are made aware of a variety of opportunities that may offer benefits that are either currently unavailable or that may provide potential cost saving advantages. A few of the possible opportunities might include medical insurance coverage, life and disability insurance plans, or qualified retirement plans. To date, the task of surfacing opportunities and facilitating the coordination and communication of CLBA activities has been done by a four person team consisting of: Dr. Charles Siburt (Vice President for Church Relations at Abilene Christian University, Ron Holifield (former minister and President of Strategic Government Resources, Inc), Jon Mullican (Executive Minister at the Highland Oaks Church of Christ in Dallas, TX), and Roland Orr (retired businessman and elder at the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, TX).
CLBA has identified a nationwide health insurance plan with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield through Churchwide Healthcare. This is a plan offered to all members of the Stone-Campbell heritage by the Disciples of Christ (Christian Church Healthcare Benefit Trust). The plan has been in existence for nearly 35 years and also provides dental and vision coverage. This opportunity was available effective January 1, 2008. Gallagher Benefits Services, Inc. (headquartered in Houston, TX) and Good Stewards (headquartered in Keller, TX) are currently assisting in handling membership services and managing the relationship with the provider. CLBA has no right to control the activities of these organizations, and receives no monetary compensation from anyone for its services.
CAUTION: Insurance and employee benefit plans have complex and multifaceted issues. Analysis of this and other opportunities may require the assistance of experienced and qualified professionals. In view of the fact that each church or other non-profit organization has unique needs, goals, objectives, parameters, and circumstances, it is the responsibility of each organization to carefully evaluate any available opportunity which may be provided and make the decisions based on what is best for it and its participants. CLBA is not a sponsor of any plan and is not a plan fiduciary of any plan. CLBA’s sole mission is to provide information about the existence of such plans to Churches of Christ and other non-profit organizations, with the idea that further review and decision may be made by each individual organization.
